Boat ramp guide
South Shore Launch Ramp
Long Beach, Los Angeles County, CA
Overview
The South Shore Launch Ramp is the City of Long Beach's downtown trailer ramp. It sits at 590 Queensway Drive on Queensway Bay, near the Queen Mary and looking across the water to Downtown Long Beach. The Marine Bureau runs it as one of five City launch sites.
Why boaters use it
South Shore is open 24 hours and allows overnight parking, which makes it the go-to ramp for early-morning fishing runs, overnight trips and Catalina crossings. While the Davies ramp in Alamitos Bay is closed for rebuilding (from April 27, 2026 into early 2027), it's the only City ramp with round-the-clock hours. The City's other sites, Marine Stadium, Claremont and Granada, are open 8 a.m. to dusk only.
Layout
The facility has multiple launch lanes, short-term dock space for loading and tie-ups, public restrooms and complimentary wash-down stations for rinsing boats and trailers after a salt-water day.
Nearby services
The Long Beach Shoreline Marina and Rainbow Harbor are close by. The Shoreline fuel dock at 700 E. Shoreline Drive sells gas and diesel from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and the City runs free 24-hour pump-outs at the Shoreline harbormaster's dock and the public dock near Parkers' Lighthouse.
Fees
The City charges $15 per day and accepts credit and debit cards.

Common boat service needs here
Trailer and engine service
Regular salt-water launching wears trailer bearings, brakes and lights and corrodes outboards that aren't flushed, so trailer boaters here book routine engine service.
Find Marine Mechanics & Engine Service providers →Washdown and detailing
The free wash-down handles a quick rinse, but boats stored on trailers between trips still benefit from regular detailing to keep salt off hardware and gelcoat.
Find Boat Detailing & Washing providers →Gelcoat and oxidation care
Trailer boats stored outdoors in Southern California sun oxidize quickly. Compounding and polishing restore the finish.
Find Gelcoat, Oxidation & Paint Correction providers →Electronics for offshore runs
Owners launching here for Catalina and offshore fishing often add or upgrade chartplotters, radios and fish finders.
