About this boat ramp
Sailor Bar is a Sacramento County park at the upstream end of the American River Parkway in Fair Oaks, just below Nimbus Dam. Its gravel launch road makes it a popular put-in for rafts, kayaks and small boats heading downriver, and a favorite spot for river anglers.
Launching
The launch is reached by a gravel road and suits hand-launched craft and small boats on trailers. The river is cold and fast, and flows change with releases from Nimbus Dam, so check flows before you go.
Around the park
There's a fishing pond near the river that's open year-round, plus a nature trail, equestrian trails and picnic spots. Early fall is especially busy with anglers.
Getting there & access
Getting there
From U.S. 50 take Hazel Avenue north, turn left on Winding Way, then left on Illinois Avenue to the park entrance at the bottom of the hill.
River flows
Flows come from Nimbus Dam releases and can rise quickly. Check flows and wear a life jacket.
