About this boat ramp
Picacho State Recreation Area covers 8 miles of the lower Colorado River north of Winterhaven, reached by a 24-mile road of which 18 miles are dirt. It's remote desert country with wild burros and bighorn sheep.
On the water
The Upper ramp is open. The Lower Dock launch is closed after it washed out. Boat-in campsites line the river.
Fees
Day use is $10 and launching is $5. Campsites run $20 to $35, and trailers up to 30 feet fit.

Getting there
Take Picacho Road north from Winterhaven: 24 miles, 18 of them dirt. Trailers up to 30 feet can make it, but go slowly.
