About this boat ramp

Packers Bay Public Boat Ramp is a Forest Service launch on the Sacramento Arm of [Shasta Lake](/lakes/shasta-lake), at the end of Packers Bay Road off Interstate 5. [Shasta Marina at Packers Bay](/marinas/shasta-marina-at-packers-bay) is just past the ramp.

The ramp

Four lanes work to about 50 feet of drawdown and two lanes to about 115 feet. There's an accessible loading platform, flush toilets and a lighted lot with 188 spaces. There's no drinking water.

Hours

The ramp is open 24 hours a day, all year. It gets very busy on holidays.

Getting there & access

By road

Packers Bay Road has a southbound I-5 exit only. Northbound, take exit 695 (O'Brien), turn left under the freeway onto southbound I-5, drive 1.5 miles to the Packers Bay Road exit, turn right and go 1.8 miles to the end.

Mussel rules

Arrive clean, drained and completely dry: at least 5 days dry if the boat was last used outside the area, or 30 days (or a professional decontamination) after waters with golden mussels. Show a signed Mussel-Free Self-Certification through the windshield.

Low water

Ramps work only to certain drawdowns. Check the lake level and call the Shasta Lake Ranger Station, (530) 275-1587, before you tow.
