Long Beach Marine Stadium and Launch Ramp
Long Beach, Los Angeles County, CA
Overview
Long Beach Marine Stadium is a 106-acre arm of Alamitos Bay at 5255 Paoli Way, built for the rowing events of the 1932 Olympic Games. Today it's a City of Long Beach park used by rowers, paddlers, water-skiers and powerboat racers, and it has a public launch ramp on its east side.
The Marine Stadium ramp
The City lists the ramp as open 8 a.m. to dusk year-round for vessels up to 23 feet. No overnight parking is allowed, and the ramp has public restrooms. It is closed for scheduled special events, so check the City's website for closure dates. Events include the Long Beach Sprint Nationals powerboat races each August, with temporary closures of the waterway and the ramp.
Water skiing and rowing rules
Water skiing is permitted only in designated areas between 8 a.m. and sunset. Rowing is allowed from sunrise to 8 a.m., and before sunrise or after sunset rowers need proper running lights and a 5 mph speed limit. Treat the stadium as a shared course: watch for crews early in the morning and follow the posted signs and buoys.
Davies Launch Ramp
The Davies ramp is the bay's 24-hour ramp, under the Davies Bridge at Second Street and Marina Drive (6201 E. Second Street). It has multiple lanes, restrooms, short-term dock space, pump-out stations and wash stations. The City lists it as temporarily closed for improvements from April 27, 2026 until early 2027, so plan to use Marine Stadium or the South Shore ramp near the Queen Mary instead.
Before you go
The City's launch-ramps page lists a $15 per day fee, with Visa and MasterCard accepted. Other City pages show older figures, so check the posted rate at the ramp.
