About this boat ramp

Jones Valley Public Boat Ramp is a Forest Service launch on the Pit River Arm of [Shasta Lake](/lakes/shasta-lake), about 9 miles east of Shasta Lake City. [Jones Valley Resort](/marinas/jones-valley-resort-shasta-lake) and [Silverthorn Resort](/marinas/silverthorn-resort-shasta-lake) are nearby.

The ramp

Four lanes work to about 50 feet of drawdown, two lanes to about 140 feet and one lane to about 210 feet, so Jones Valley keeps working when most ramps are out of the water. The state boating directory lists one boarding float and about 150 trailer spaces. There are flush toilets but no drinking water.

Good to know

The ramp is open all year for day use. Upper and Lower Jones Valley campgrounds, the Jones Valley Inlet shoreline camping area and the Clikapudi Trail are close by.

Getting there & access

By road

From I-5 take exit 687 and turn right. Follow Old Oregon Trail 3 miles, turn left on Bear Mountain Road for 8.5 miles, then left at the Dry Creek Road stop sign and go about 3 miles.

Mussel rules

Arrive clean, drained and completely dry: at least 5 days dry if the boat was last used outside the area, or 30 days (or a professional decontamination) after waters with golden mussels. Show a signed Mussel-Free Self-Certification through the windshield.

Low water

Ramps work only to certain drawdowns. Check the lake level and call the Shasta Lake Ranger Station, (530) 275-1587, before you tow.
