Granada Launch Ramp (Belmont Shore)

Long Beach, Los Angeles County, CA

Overview

The Granada Launch Ramp is one of five launch sites run by the City of Long Beach Marine Bureau. It sits on the beach at Granada Avenue and Ocean Boulevard in Belmont Shore, and its listed address is 1 S. Granada Avenue. Unlike the City's paved ramps, Granada is a sand launch, intended for small vessels and personal watercraft that can be moved across the beach to the water's edge.

Who uses it

PWC riders, small-boat owners and beach sailors use Granada to get straight onto the open Pacific along the Long Beach shoreline without running through a marina. It isn't a trailer ramp for larger boats; owners of bigger trailer boats use the City's paved ramps instead.

Hours and parking

The site is open from 8 a.m. to dusk, year-round. Parking costs $15 per day and overnight parking isn't allowed, so plan to be packed up and off the lot by dusk.

Good to know

Because you launch from an open beach, check surf and wind before you go, and be ready to handle your craft in the shore break. City lifeguards cover the beach, and Long Beach Marine Patrol handles on-water problems. The nearest paved alternatives are the Marine Stadium ramp (boats up to 23 feet, 8 a.m. to dusk) and the South Shore ramp near the Queen Mary, which is open 24 hours. The Davies ramp in Alamitos Bay is closed for rebuilding until early 2027.

Common boat service needs here

PWC and outboard service

Personal watercraft and small outboards launched through sand and salt water need regular freshwater flushing and engine checks to keep sand and corrosion out of pumps and cooling passages.

Washdown and detailing

Beach-launched craft come back covered in salt and sand. A thorough rinse and periodic detailing keep hulls, seats and hardware from wearing out early.

Gelcoat and hull touch-ups

Dragging or beaching small craft on sand scuffs gelcoat along the keel and chines, so owners often need gelcoat and fiberglass repair.

Covers and seat care

PWC seats and small-boat upholstery parked in full sun between sessions fade and crack, which makes covers and upholstery work a common need.
