About this boat ramp

Elkhorn Boat Launching Facility is a Sacramento County Regional Parks ramp on the Sacramento River, tucked under Interstate 5 on the Garden Highway near Sacramento International Airport. It's a popular put-in for fishing and cruising the river north of downtown.

Launching

The ramp is open year-round from sunrise to sunset and is also used for personal watercraft. The state boating database lists 68 parking spaces for vehicles with trailers. Vehicles with trailers pay $15, more on summer holiday weekends, and you pay yourself if no fee collector is there.

Getting there

From I-5, take the Garden Highway/Airport exit to Airport Boulevard, follow the boat launch signs to the Crossfield Drive overpass, turn left on North Bayou Way and continue west to Garden Highway. The entrance is on the west side, under the freeway.
