Davies Launch Ramp (Alamitos Bay)
Long Beach, Los Angeles County, CA
Overview
The Davies Launch Ramp is the City of Long Beach's Alamitos Bay trailer ramp, below the Davies Bridge at Second Street and Marina Drive. The City lists its address as 6204 E. Marina Drive. It's the busiest of the City's five launch sites: the City says it served nearly 28,000 boaters in 2025.
Current status: closed
Davies closed on Monday, April 27, 2026 for a full rebuild. The ramp, restroom and parking lot are all off-limits during construction. The City expects the work to finish in early 2027, subject to weather and unforeseen delays. Its September 2026 project update says crews had finished water service connections and light-pole foundations, with concrete for the foundations next.
What's being built
The project replaces the launch ramp and repaves and restripes the parking lot. It adds a new restroom, gate and kiosk, a token-operated boat wash, a fish cleaning station, EV chargers, new lighting and accessibility upgrades. Funding comes from Tidelands funds, Marina funds and California Division of Boating and Waterways grants. Local reporting puts the cost at $8.8 million.
Before the closure
The City listed Davies as open 24 hours, with overnight parking, multiple lanes, restrooms, short-term docks and free pump-out and wash-down stations, for $15 a day.
Where to launch now
South Shore near the Queen Mary is open 24 hours. Marine Stadium takes boats up to 23 feet from 8 a.m. to dusk.

Boat transport during the closure
