About this boat ramp
Alviso Marina County Park in the Alviso neighborhood of San Jose is Santa Clara County's main launch onto San Francisco Bay.
On the water
Two concrete ramps and two floating docks serve power boats and paddlers. From the launch it's about 4 miles down Alviso Slough to the open bay, through the salt marshes of the wildlife refuge.
Tides and wildlife
Low tides expose mudflats that can strand boats, so check the tide chart at the launch. Stay off levees and refuge land, keep clear of Ridgway's rail habitat and harbor seal haul-outs, and expect waterfowl hunting in the refuge from about October to January.
Getting there & access
Getting there
The park is at the end of Hope Street and Mill Street in Alviso, at the south tip of San Francisco Bay.
Tides
Plan around the tide. At low water the slough and mudflats can strand boats; a tide chart is posted at the launch.
After hours
Launching or retrieving outside park hours needs a county annual gate key.
- Hours
- 8 a.m. to sunset; gate key for after hours
