Marina guide
Tahoe Keys Marina
South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County, CA
Overview
Tahoe Keys Marina, on Lake Tahoe's South Shore, is the lake's largest marina and its only inland one. It sits on a 22-acre property inside the Tahoe Keys, reached from the lake by a protected channel. For South Shore boaters it's a one-stop base: slips, fuel, a full-service launch, dry storage, rentals and charters.
Slips and storage
The marina's 250 slips rent by the day, week, month or season, with 20, 30 and 50-amp shore power and on-site security. Guest slips can be booked online. Dry storage takes boats up to 60 feet, which suits owners who trailer up for the summer or need a secure place off-season. The marina notes its wet-slip area is under redevelopment, so check current slip availability.
Launch and fuel
Instead of a simple ramp, the marina runs a full-service launching and landing department with a high-capacity travel lift, a forklift, a jib crane for sailboats and a launch ramp. Every boat must be inspected for aquatic invasive species before launching. The fuel dock sells high-speed diesel and regular gas, and pump-out service is available.
On-site services
Powerboat, tiki boat and waterski rentals, several charter operators, a waterski school, a ship store and a restaurant all operate at the marina. It's also a Certified Clean Marina, with a wildlife viewing area and a trail to the public beach.
Getting there & access
By water
The marina is inside the Tahoe Keys on the South Shore, reached from the lake through the Tahoe Keys channel. Lake-wide rules apply on the approach: 5 mph within 600 feet of shore. Watch for posted speed limits in the channel.
Launching
Have your aquatic invasive species inspection done, or carry an intact seal, before you arrive. The marina's launch staff handle travel-lift and crane launches; call ahead to schedule larger boats and sailboats.
By road
From US 50 in South Lake Tahoe, take Tahoe Keys Boulevard north to Venice Drive. The nearest roadside inspection station is in Meyers at US 50 and Hwy 89.
