Long Beach City Guest Slips (Alamitos Bay, Shoreline & Rainbow Harbor)

Long Beach, Los Angeles County, CA

Overview

The City of Long Beach Marine Bureau runs nearly 3,000 feet of year-round guest mooring spread across three City marinas: Alamitos Bay Marina on the east side, and Long Beach Shoreline Marina and Rainbow Harbor downtown. It's the main option for visiting boaters who want a night or more in Long Beach.

How it works

Guest moorings can be reserved up to 30 days in advance through the Marine Bureau office. Before you're given a mooring assignment, you'll need proof of liability insurance at the required limits and a current vessel registration or documentation. The City doesn't post nightly rates online; call the Marine Bureau for current rates and terms.

Short stops

If you only need a few hours, Alamitos Bay Marina has a free 2-hour public mooring and Rainbow Harbor has a free 3-hour public mooring. Rainbow Harbor is next to the downtown waterfront, and Alamitos Bay is close to Belmont Shore and Naples.

Services for visitors

City pump-outs are free and open 24 hours, for holding tanks only. Both marina areas have fuel docks with gas and diesel, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Long Beach Marine Patrol covers the marinas and harbor.

Planning tip

Call the right office. Alamitos Bay's office handles east-side guest slips, and the Shoreline Marina office handles Shoreline and Rainbow Harbor. Have your insurance and registration ready to send before you arrive.

Common boat service needs here

Mechanical help for cruisers

Visiting boats sometimes arrive with engine or charging problems after the run up or down the coast, so mobile marine mechanics are a common need.

Electrical and shore power

Guest-slip stays mean plugging into unfamiliar shore power. Electricians help with cords, adapters, chargers and electronics faults.

Hull cleaning before a trip home

Boats on longer stays pick up growth in harbor water, and a diver hull cleaning before departure restores speed and fuel economy.
