Overview
Jones Valley Resort is a full-service houseboat marina on the Pit River Arm of Shasta Lake, about 20 minutes east of Redding. It sits at 22300 Jones Valley Marina Drive, reached by taking Highway 299 East toward Bella Vista and following Dry Creek Road south. The resort operates under Forest Service jurisdiction and is run as part of the Houseboats.com operation, which also manages Silverthorn Resort.
What is here
The marina is built around houseboat rentals (four models, some with hot tubs and waterslides) and a day-use fleet that includes wakeboard boats, patio and pontoon boats, a fishing boat, a three-seat jet ski, kayaks and paddleboards. The state boating facilities listing credits it with fuel sales, a convenience store and snack bar, transient tie-ups, water and power on the docks, haul-out and repair, launching valet service and a sewage pump-out.
The public ramp next door
The Forest Service's Jones Valley Public Boat Ramp is one of the best low-water ramps on the lake. Four lanes work until about 50 feet of drawdown, two lanes to about 140 feet, and one lane stays in service down to roughly 210 feet. That makes it a fallback when other ramps close.
Good to know
The ramp often fills on holiday weekends, and all Shasta Lake ramps now sit under a federal mussel prohibition. Arrive with your boat clean, drained and fully dry.
Getting there & access
By road
From Redding, take Highway 299 East to Bella Vista, then follow Dry Creek Road south to 22300 Jones Valley Marina Drive. The Forest Service guide also lists access from I-5 at Exit 682 (Oasis Road) or via Mountain Gate.
Launching at Jones Valley
The adjacent Forest Service ramp is paved, with four lanes until about 50 feet of drawdown, two lanes until about 140 feet and one lane down to about 210 feet. It's often full on holiday weekends.
Paying the launch fee
Day passes are bought on site only. Download the Recreation.gov app before you arrive (cell service can be weak), scan the QR code on the fee board, drop the envelope in the metal fee tube and display the stub on your dashboard. The pass covers only that date and vehicle and does not guarantee parking.
Arriving by water
Jones Valley sits on the Pit River Arm. Transient tie-ups are listed at the marina; call ahead for dock space.

Rules & official resources
- Forest Order 14-25-29 (effective December 4, 2025 through December 4, 2027) prohibits possessing or transporting golden, zebra or quagga mussels below the high-water mark of Shasta, Trinity and Lewiston lakes or on any ramp that serves them; violations carry fines up to $5,000 for individuals
- All watercraft must be cleaned, drained and completely dried before launching at Whiskeytown, Shasta, Trinity and Lewiston lakes: at least 5 days dry if last used outside the NRA, at least 30 days dry (or professional decontamination) if used in a county or waterbody with known golden mussels
- A signed Mussel-Free Self-Certification (form version dated July 1, 2026) displayed through the windshield speeds up launching at Shasta, Trinity, Lewiston and Whiskeytown lakes
- Jones Valley ramp passes are bought on site through the Recreation.gov app, are valid only for the date and vehicle shown, and don't guarantee parking; illegally parked vehicles may be fined and towed
- A current California Mussel Fee sticker is required on motorized watercraft operated in fresh water
- California Boater Card required for all operators of motorized vessels, regardless of age, since January 1, 2025

Houseboats and wake boats here run long, hot summer days far from the dock. Generators, outboards and inboards need regular service, and the marina's haul-out and repair listing makes this a practical place to keep up with it.
