Marina guide

Jack London Square Marina

Oakland, Alameda County, CA

Overview

Jack London Square Marina is a Port of Oakland marina on the Oakland side of the Oakland-Alameda Estuary, at 38 Webster Street at the foot of Broadway. California Parks lists about 148 slips and tie-ups, and the operator advertises over 150 wet slips. It is operated by Suntex and sits in a waterfront district of restaurants, shops, a ferry dock, the Amtrak station and the USS Potomac museum ship.

Guest docks and transient slips

Transient slips can be booked through the marina's online reservation system or by calling (510) 834-4591. A local cruising guide also describes a free guest dock in front of Scott's Seafood on a first-come basis with no overnight docking, and a customers-only dock at Pasta Pelican; policies change, so confirm with the marina or restaurant before you arrive. The marina has a fuel dock, a pump-out station, showers and Wi-Fi.

Dock-and-dine

Scott's Seafood and Pasta Pelican are the restaurants most often cited for tying up and eating, and Heinold's First and Last Chance Saloon, Yoshi's and other restaurants are a short walk. The restaurant mix changes, so call ahead to ask whether a restaurant dock is open.

Getting here

The approach from the Bay follows the red buoy line into Oakland Harbor starting with buoy 2. Watch for container ships, tugs and ferries, and for the Oakland Alameda Water Shuttle crossing to Alameda Landing. Oakland's estuary has derelict and anchored-out boats, so lock your dinghy. See our Oakland-Alameda Estuary guide for bridges and rules.
