Marina guide
Folsom Lake Marina at Brown's Ravine
Folsom, El Dorado County, CA
Overview
Folsom Lake Marina sits in Brown's Ravine at the south end of Folsom Lake, inside Folsom Lake State Recreation Area on the El Dorado County side of the lake. It's the lake's full-service marina: the place where owners keep boats in the water all season, buy fuel and pick up supplies.
Layout
The marina has roughly 674 wet slips and 175 dry storage spaces for boats up to about 26 ft, and slip waiting lists have run three to six years depending on boat size. The state-run Brown's Ravine launch area next door has two ramps: a four-lane main ramp with two courtesy docks and the Hobie Cove low-water ramp, which comes into use when the lake drops to about elevation 435 ft.
Fuel and supplies
The marina runs the only gas dock on Folsom Lake. It sells 87-octane only, plus motor and two-cycle oil, and is open every day of the year when lake levels allow. There's a snack bar, a small bait and tackle shop (no fishing licenses), a marine supply store and battery charging, but no repair service.
Golden mussel rules
Since April 14, 2025, trailered and motorized boats launching at Folsom Lake must be inspected and sealed for a 30-day quarantine, and since May 14, 2025 a boat needs an intact, verified seal before it can launch. Not every ramp is open to motorized boats at once, so check State Parks' current ramp status before you tow.
Getting there & access
Getting there
The marina is at Brown's Ravine on the south side of Folsom Lake, within Folsom Lake State Recreation Area (mailing address P.O. Box 125, Folsom, CA 95763). The Brown's Ravine launch area is run by California State Parks; the SRA office is at (916) 988-0205.
Launch ramps
Brown's Ravine has a four-lane main ramp with two courtesy docks, plus the Hobie Cove low-water ramp used when the lake falls to about elevation 435 ft. In State Parks' September 2, 2025 ramp update, Brown's Ravine–Hobie Cove was open to motorized and trailered boats while the main Brown's Ravine ramp was listed as closed. Ramp status changes with lake level, so check it before you go.
Quarantine seals
Trailered and motorized boats need either a completed 30-day quarantine or an accepted green seal to launch. Inspection stations close 30 minutes after sunset, so leave time to get a green seal before you head home. Hand-launched, non-motorized craft and hand-launched boats with electric trolling motors are exempt.
Parking and passes
The Brown's Ravine area has large trailer parking lots. State Parks annual passes are sold at the marina office, which takes credit cards.

Seasonal slip and storage logistics
With multi-year slip waiting lists and a 30-day quarantine for boats coming from other water, many owners keep their boat at the marina or in dry storage all season rather than trailering in and out.
Find Marinas, Storage & Dock Services providers →Engine and fuel-system service
The marina charges batteries but doesn't do repairs, so owners rely on mobile or shop mechanics for tune-ups, impellers and fuel-system work, especially after a winter of low lake levels.
Find Marine Mechanics & Engine Service providers →Gelcoat and canvas care
Hot, dry Sacramento-foothill summers are hard on gelcoat, covers and Bimini tops on boats kept in open slips and storage.
Find Gelcoat, Oxidation & Paint Correction providers →Transport for quarantine and seasonal moves
Owners moving boats between lakes or to winter storage often hire transport, and must plan around Folsom's quarantine-seal rules.
