Marina guide

Diamond Valley Lake Marina

Hemet, Riverside County, CA

Overview

Diamond Valley Lake Marina is the marina on Diamond Valley Lake, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California's reservoir outside Hemet. It sits at 2615 Angler Avenue. The marina is run by concessionaire Vista Recreation and handles rentals, dry storage, slips and park passes.

Rentals and passes

Rental boats include a Deluxe Pontoon (10 people), Premium Bass and Basic Bass boats (4 people each). Renters must be 21 or older, reservations guarantee a boat, and rentals stop 2 hours before closing. The marina also sells the daily Fishing Access Pass ($9), Shoreline Pass ($4) and parking ($11).

A drinking-water lake

Diamond Valley is a drinking water reservoir, so there's no body contact with the water, no personal watercraft, no towing of skis or boards, and no inflatables or float tubes. Boats must be at least 12 feet long and 42 inches wide with 12 inches of freeboard at idle, and engines must stay under 75 dBA at 50 feet.

On the water

The limit is 25 mph, or 5 mph within 200 feet of shore, dams and structures. Wind is the big hazard on this open basin: at 25 mph all boats must leave the water or return to their slips. Lake hours run sunrise to sunset by season, and boats must be out an hour before closing. Boats are inspected before launch for mussels, registration and safety gear.

Getting there & access

By road

The marina is at 2615 Angler Avenue in Hemet, at Diamond Valley Lake. Parking is $11 a day and the Fishing Access Pass is $9 a day.

Launch inspection

Boats are inspected before launch for quagga mussels, seaworthiness, current registration and stickers, and safety gear: a Coast Guard-approved fire extinguisher, distress flag, horn or whistle, oar, Type IV throw cushion and a life jacket for each person. A boat that fails a mussel inspection at Lake Perris also can't launch here during its eight-day quarantine.

Hours and wind

Lake hours run sunrise to sunset and vary by season, and boats must be out of the water one hour before closing. In 15–25 mph wind operate with caution; at 25 mph all boats must leave the water or return to marina slips.

Overnight

No overnight stays on board, and boats may not be left on shore or in the water overnight except in dry storage or designated marina slips.

Rules & official resources

Common boat service needs here

Noise and engine checks

Engines must stay under 75 dBA at 50 feet and pass a pre-launch inspection, so exhaust and engine service ahead of a trip saves a wasted drive.

Sealed heads and systems

Toilets and sink drains must be sealed or inoperable. Owners of larger boats sometimes need plumbing or electrical work to comply.

Cleaning and dry-out

Pre-launch mussel inspections reward boats that arrive clean and dry. Washdown and drying of livewells and bilges is a common prep step.
