Marina guide
Antioch Marina
Antioch, Contra Costa County, CA
Overview
Antioch Marina is the City of Antioch's municipal marina on the San Joaquin River, one mile north of the Highway 4 and L Street intersection in downtown Antioch. It sits at the western edge of the Delta, where boats from Suisun Bay and San Francisco Bay enter the river system, and it is a handy launch for anglers and cruisers.
Launch ramp
The marina has two corrugated concrete ramps with three high-freeboard composite docks that extend about 150 feet. A low-freeboard dock on the sheltered south side serves kayaks. Parking has 180 vehicle spaces, 80 trailer spaces and 12 accessible spaces. The City says launch permits are valid for 24 hours, can be bought at a self-pay station for up to 72 hours, and annual passes run January through December. Kayaks and other small non-motorized boats launch free unless you arrive with a trailer. Check the current fee at the station.
Slips and services
Marina listings show roughly 310 slips, a guest dock and a fuel dock with gas and diesel, and a restaurant on site (undergoing renovation at last report). State Parks lists the marina and the public launch ramp as separate facilities. Paths connect to the 200-acre Dow Wetlands.
On the water
Cargo ships, motorboats and sailboats move along the rivers regularly, and winds and currents can be strong, so this is not the place for beginners in open water. Hunting takes place in nearby wetlands from October through February.
Getting there & access
By land
From Highway 4 take L Street north into downtown Antioch; the marina is about a mile north of that intersection. Parking has dedicated trailer spaces.
Launching
Pay at the on-site self-pay station. The City says a launch permit is valid for 24 hours and you can buy up to three permits, or an annual pass for January through December. Small non-motorized vessels launch free unless used with a trailer.
River conditions
Expect ships, strong winds and tidal current on this stretch of the San Joaquin. Stay clear of commercial traffic and plan around the tide.
Guest dock
Marina listings show a guest dock. Call the City marina office to confirm availability and rates before arriving.
