About this lake

Status: closed. Camping, boating, hunting, fishing and day use were suspended on October 16, 2026, when the South San Joaquin Irrigation District (SSJID) took the reservoir back from Stanislaus County Parks. The district says recreation stays closed until it signs a new concessionaire. No reopening date has been set.

Woodward Reservoir is an irrigation reservoir on 26 Mile Road north of Oakdale.

Why it closed

SSJID ended its management deal with the county. It pointed to aging sewer and drinking water systems, needed facility upgrades, traffic on 26 Mile Road and the county's response to invasive golden mussels.

What was there

Under the county the park had three boat launches, a fish cleaning station, waterskiing and jet skiing, and campsites. Day use was $15 per vehicle plus $10 per boat. Those services may change under a new operator.
