About this lake

Wiest Lake is a 45-acre man-made lake in a 74-acre Imperial County park east of Brawley, fed by the Alamo River. The county reopened it to recreation in July 2023 after the Imperial Irrigation District restored water flow.

On the water

The county lists boating, water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking, swimming and fishing. There's one concrete launch ramp and a fishing dock. In 2023 the county reported a small paved lot with 12 trailer spaces, overflow parking on dirt, a $2 per-vehicle entrance fee and a $5 launch fee, and it sought a state grant for a boarding float, new shade ramadas and more parking. Call the county parks office for current fees. California requires a Mussel Fee Sticker on boats used in fresh water.

Camping

The park has RV camping with partial hookups, dry camping and tent camping, plus picnic tables, grills and a playground.
