Westlake Lake is a private, 125-acre artificial lake in Westlake Village, built in 1969 with about 8 miles of shoreline wrapped by homes, docks and a residential island. It's maintained by the Westlake Lake Management Association.

Who can boat here

Boating and fishing are limited to Westlake Village residents, their guests and permit holders; there's no public launch. Westlake Yacht Club says the lake is limited to sailboats up to 18 feet and non-gas-powered boats holding a Westlake License, and guest-owned boats must pass a mussel inspection before going on the lake.

Sailing

Westlake Yacht Club, on the lake at 32123 West Lindero Canyon Road, teaches sailing to all ages and runs a fleet of club boats. Its launch ramps and guest docks are used by visiting clubs during regattas and special events.

For visitors

You don't need a boat to enjoy it. The Landing, at 32129 Lindero Canyon Road on the southwest shore, has lakefront restaurants with outdoor seating, and walking and biking routes run around the lake.

On the water

There's no public boat launch. Boating and fishing are for Westlake Village residents, their guests and permit holders, and boats need a Westlake License.

Visiting boats

Guest-owned boats must pass a mussel inspection before they can access the lake, according to Westlake Yacht Club.

Without a boat

Head to The Landing on Lindero Canyon Road for lakefront restaurants, or walk the routes around the lake.
