About this lake

Webber Lake is the headwaters of the Little Truckee River, between Truckee and Sierraville. The Truckee Donner Land Trust bought the 3,000-acre property in 2012 and opened it to the public after decades of closure.

On the water

All kinds of boats are welcome, with a 5 mph speed limit. There's a boat ramp and trailer parking. Because of invasive species, boats are likely to be inspected, and Sierra County requires a self-inspection form before launching.

Camping

Webber Lake Campground has 46 shaded sites with tables, fire pits and bear boxes, but no hookups or dump station. It's open from spring, when conditions allow, until October 15 or the first winter weather. Reservations are strongly suggested; walk-ins aren't guaranteed. Dogs must be leashed.

Around the lake

Day-use parking and picnic tables are free. The Lacey Valley Trail (about 6 miles round trip) starts at the west end of the lake. Fishing follows California's Sierra District rules.
