About this lake

Stumpy Meadows Reservoir sits at about 4,200 feet in the Eldorado National Forest, 17 miles east of Georgetown on Wentworth Springs Road.

On the water

Motorized boats are allowed, but the speed limit is 5 mph and waterskiing isn't allowed. Kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding are popular. There's a boat ramp with a boarding dock and a picnic area. Day use is $10, and a $36 overnight camp is available at the boat ramp. Royal Elk Park Management sells an $85 seasonal pass for its day use and boat launch sites. The Forest Service asks boaters to clean, drain and dry (its alert: Help Halt Golden Mussel Invasion).

Camping

Stumpy Meadows Campground has 40 sites ($36 single, $72 double) with drinking water, vault toilets and a dump station across the road. Its season runs April 15 to October 15; the 2026 closing was set for September 27.
