About this lake

Status: All camping at Stony Gorge is closed until further notice, including the Pines Group Site. The Skippers' Point boat launch and day-use areas stay open.

Stony Gorge Reservoir is a Bureau of Reclamation lake about 20 miles west of Willows in western Glenn County, with an 18-mile shoreline. The dam, finished in 1928, is one of Reclamation's oldest.

On the water

Skippers' Point boat launch is open 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. year-round. Summer water reaches about 75 degrees, and anglers catch largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish. Swimming is at your own risk with no lifeguards, and the bottom has sudden drop-offs. The Glenn County Sheriff enforces boating laws.

Mussel self-certification

Reclamation asks boaters to self-certify before launching. Forms are at the launch.

Day use

Skippers' Point and Pines day-use areas and a disc golf course are open sunrise to sunset. No campfires; charcoal only in the provided grills. Dogs on a 6-foot leash.
