About this lake
Stone Lagoon is part of Humboldt Lagoons State Park, forty miles north of Eureka. The Chah-pekw O'Ket'-toh (Stone Lagoon) Visitor Center is operated by the Yurok Tribe.
On the water
You can bring your own boat or rent one: kayaks and paddleboards are rented at the visitor center. The state boating directory lists a launch here. Fishing is artificial lures with barbless hooks only. Afternoon winds can make conditions treacherous, and the ocean side has rogue waves and rip currents.
Camping
The Ryan's Cove campground has six boat-in or hike-in sites, first come, first served; register at the Sue-meg State Park kiosk.
Day use
Day use is free, with no entrance or parking fees. Picnic areas are by the visitor center, and a beach wheelchair can be borrowed. Dogs aren't allowed in campsites, on trails or in the dunes.
