About this lake
Stampede Reservoir is a large reservoir in the Tahoe National Forest north of Truckee, reached from Interstate 80 at the Hirschdale exit.
On the water
The Captain Roberts boat ramp sits next to Logger Campground, with one boarding float, parking for about 100 cars with trailers and a pump-out. Calm water for paddling is best in the morning and evening.
Fishing and camping
Anglers fish for kokanee salmon, rainbow trout and brown trout, with special restrictions posted, and ice fish when winter allows. Logger Campground has more than 240 sites and runs from late May to early October.

From Truckee, take I-80 east about 6 miles to the Hirschdale exit and follow the road about 11 miles to the reservoir.
