About this lake
Silver Lake is on the June Lake Loop (Highway 158) at about 7,400 feet.
On the water
The Forest Service's Silver Lake boat launch, finished in 2024, has a ramp and dock for motorized and paddle boats, 38 parking stalls (18 for trailers) and flush toilets. It's free and day use only, with no overnight parking or camping. Trailered boats need the free Eastern Sierra mussel inspection and sticker before launching.
Silver Lake Resort
The resort rents outboard boats for up to five people ($75 for a full day, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., or $50 for a half day) and kayaks ($25 for the first hour). Renters must be 18 or older. It also has a store, restaurant, lodging, campsites and fuel.
Winter
The Loop road closes in winter, usually from about December to March.
Getting there & access
Getting there
Take Highway 158 (the June Lake Loop); the resort and launch are on the highway at the lake.
Winter
The Forest Service notes a winter road closure from about December through March.
Mussel inspection
Since April 2026, Mono County requires every trailered boat and jet ski to be inspected before launching. Inspections, decontamination and the Eastern Sierra mussel sticker are free at Eastern Sierra WID stations (list at EasternSierraWID.com). Residents inspect once a year; visitors inspect on entering Mono or Inyo County, and again after launching anywhere outside the two counties. Arrive clean, drained and dry.
