About this lake

Rollins Lake is a Nevada Irrigation District reservoir at about 2,100 feet in the Sierra foothills, off Highway 174 between Grass Valley and Colfax.

On the water

Four campgrounds, Long Ravine, Orchard Springs, Peninsula and the privately run Greenhorn, each have a launch. Every boater fills out a mandatory self-inspection form and brings it to the check-in kiosk, and boats must be cleaned before and after launching to keep out invasive mussels. Orchard Springs Resort rents boats and has a store, restaurant and showers.

Off-season

In fall and winter only the Orchard Springs launch stays open, Thursday to Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Long Ravine, Peninsula and Greenhorn close for winter.

Fishing

Anglers catch rainbow and brown trout and largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass.
