About this lake

Status: The Forest Service lists the Redinger boating site as closed; call the Bass Lake Ranger District before you go.

Redinger Lake is a foothill reservoir on the San Joaquin River near North Fork, built by Southern California Edison in 1951 as part of the Big Creek hydroelectric project.

On the water

The Forest Service boating site has a public ramp, normally open all year. Waterskiing and jet skis are popular, and canoes and kayaks have miles of shoreline to explore. The state boating directory lists parking for 10 cars with trailers and one boarding float. There are vault toilets but no drinking water. The Forest Service asks boaters to clean, drain and dry.

Getting there & access

Getting there

From Fresno take Highway 41 north to Road 200, continue through North Fork to Road 225, then turn onto Redinger Lake Road.

Golden mussels

The Forest Service asks every boater to clean, drain and dry boats, trailers and gear, never drain bilge or ballast into the lake, and check the lake's launching rules before visiting. California also requires a Mussel Fee Sticker on motorized boats used in fresh water.
