About this lake
New Spicer Meadow Reservoir is a 2,000-acre lake (when full) in the Stanislaus National Forest, nine miles up Spicer Reservoir Road (7N01) from Highway 4.
On the water
The maximum speed on the lower lake is 10 mph. The upper arm, next to the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness, is managed for non-motorized use only, such as canoes and kayaks. The launch has a boarding float and parking for about 50 cars with trailers, plus a fish cleaning station and restrooms. The Forest Service asks boaters to clean, drain and dry and to check launching rules before visiting.
Camping
Spicer Reservoir Campground has 60 family sites and a group site, reserved on Recreation.gov, at $30 a night for a single site. Its 2027 peak season runs May 22 to September 26. It has drinking water.
