About this lake
Lake Thomas A. Edison, usually called Edison Lake, is a high Sierra reservoir at the end of Edison Lake Road, off Kaiser Pass Road in the Sierra National Forest.
On the water
Edison Lake has a free public boat launch. Canoeing and kayaking near the shoreline are popular, and anglers fish for rainbow, brown and brook trout. Sandy beaches in the campground give swimming access. The Forest Service says Vermillion Valley Resort offers ferry rides across the lake to trails in the wilderness. The Forest Service asks boaters to clean, drain and dry.
Camping
Vermillion Campground on the northwest shore has lake views, bear lockers and vault toilets, open June to September at $37 a night. Boil the spigot water. Limited supplies and pay showers are at the resort, within walking distance.

Golden mussels
The Forest Service asks every boater to clean, drain and dry boats, trailers and gear, never drain bilge or ballast into the lake, and check the lake's launching rules before visiting. California also requires a Mussel Fee Sticker on motorized boats used in fresh water.
