About this lake

Lake Sherwood is a reservoir created by Sherwood Dam in 1901, in the Santa Monica Mountains west of Westlake Village in Ventura County. It's fed by surrounding open-space watershed and natural springs, and the lake sits at the center of the private community of the same name, with about 660 homes including guard-gated and gated neighborhoods and Sherwood Country Club.

On the water

It's a body-contact lake: swimming, fishing, stand-up paddleboarding and boating are all allowed. Lake Sherwood is a private community, and there's no public boat launch, so getting on the water is for residents and their guests.
