About this lake

Status: The Lake Hennessey boat launch is closed and no watercraft of any kind are allowed on the lake until further notice. The City of Napa closed it to keep golden mussels out of its water supply and says it doesn't plan to reopen in the foreseeable future. Boating permit sales are suspended.

Lake Hennessey supplies 40 to 60 percent of the City of Napa's drinking water in a typical year.

When the launch reopens

Canoes and kayaks may launch only from the boat dock, the lake is day use only, and motors over 10 horsepower aren't allowed. No body contact with the water is permitted: no swimming, wading or paddleboards.

Fishing

Anglers 16 and older pay a City fishing permit ($1 a day or $5 a year), plus a state license. Open fires are prohibited in the watershed.
