About this lake
Lake Davis is a State Water Project reservoir on Big Grizzly Creek, about 7 miles north of Portola in Plumas County. The Forest Service runs the recreation sites around the lake.
On the water
There are paved boat ramps at Lightning Tree and Honker Cove and a car-top launch at Mallard. Water skiing isn't allowed, so the lake stays quiet and suits fishing boats, kayaks and canoes.
Fishing and camping
Lake Davis is known for spring trout fishing, and anglers come back in winter for ice fishing. Three campgrounds sit near the shore: Grizzly (55 sites), Grasshopper Flat (71 sites) and Lightning Tree (40 sites).
