About this lake
Lake Balboa is the centerpiece of Anthony C. Beilenson Park in the Sepulveda Basin, run by the City of Los Angeles and open from sunrise to sunset.
On the water
The park offers pedal boats and city kayak classes and passes. Paddleboards aren't allowed because of water conditions, and neither is swimming. Electric and sail remote-control boats use the cove north of the launch ramp.
Fishing and the park
Fishing is allowed from designated grass areas, not the walkway, and anglers 16 and over need a state license. A 1.3-mile path circles the lake, with picnic areas, a playground, restrooms and bike rentals.
