About this lake

Lake Alpine is a 180-acre lake at 7,300 feet on Highway 4, about 2 miles east of Bear Valley in the Stanislaus National Forest.

On the water

The speed limit is 10 mph, and motorboats aren't allowed on the lake at night. The launch has parking for about 60 cars with trailers, but large boats aren't recommended. Lake Alpine Lodge rents small boats and kayaks and has a store, restaurant and lodging.

Camping and winter

Forest Service campgrounds around the lake have no hookups. In winter the area becomes the Lake Alpine SNO-PARK for snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

Lake Alpine is on Highway 4 about 2 miles east of Bear Valley and 50 miles east of Angels Camp.
