About this lake
Status: the 2026 boating season ended September 27, 2026.
Klondike Lake is a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power lake near Big Pine.
Limited boating
In 2026 LADWP opened the lake for limited public boating and fishing on weekends only, Friday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to sunset, from May 22 to September 27. Boat access was free.
Mussel inspection
All boats need the free Eastern Sierra Golden Mussel Collective sticker. Get it at the Bishop inspection station (620 South Main Street, open daily 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., expected through October) before your first trip, then pass the gate inspection, held from 9 to 10 a.m. on open days. After that you can stay on the lake all day.

LADWP sets the dates each year, so check its Eastern Sierra page before planning a trip.
