About this lake

June Lake is on the June Lake Loop (Highway 158), beside the village of June Lake, at about 7,500 feet.

On the water

June Lake Marina, founded in 1920, has a launch, docking for boats up to 24 feet, motor repair, a bait and tackle shop and boat rentals; its season runs from the end of April through October. Big Rock Resort, also on the lake, has a launch, 20 covered slips, boat rentals, a washdown area and lodging. Trailered boats need the free Eastern Sierra mussel inspection and sticker first.

June Lake Beach

The Forest Service beach on the north shore is for swimming, paddling and windsurfing. Trailers and vehicles over 20 feet aren't allowed, and the lot holds about 98 cars. Day use is $10 per vehicle in spring and summer, or $50 for a season pass; interagency passes aren't accepted. It's free in fall and winter, open sunrise to sunset.

Getting there & access

Getting there

Take Highway 158 (the June Lake Loop) from Highway 395. The marinas are by the village; the beach is on the north shore.

Beach rules

No trailers or vehicles over 20 feet at June Lake Beach, and no overnight parking.

Mussel inspection

Since April 2026, Mono County requires every trailered boat and jet ski to be inspected before launching. Inspections, decontamination and the Eastern Sierra mussel sticker are free at Eastern Sierra WID stations (list at EasternSierraWID.com). Residents inspect once a year; visitors inspect on entering Mono or Inyo County, and again after launching anywhere outside the two counties. Arrive clean, drained and dry.
