About this lake

Jane's Reservoir is a small reservoir in the Devil's Garden area of the Modoc National Forest, north of Alturas off Crowder Flat Road.

On the water

A gravel launch ramp gives small boats access, and both motorized and non-motorized boating are listed, along with fishing. There's no fee. Facilities open as weather allows, usually mid-May to late October. The Forest Service asks boaters to clean, drain and dry.

Camping

A campground is next to the ramp, with two vault toilets and picnic tables but no water. There's no garbage service: take all trash, fish guts and dog waste with you. Dogs must be on a leash.

Getting there & access

Getting there

From Alturas take Highway 299 west 3 miles, then Crowder Flat Road (County Road 73) north about 29 miles to the Jane's Reservoir turnoff.

Golden mussels

The Forest Service asks every boater to clean, drain and dry boats, trailers and gear, never drain bilge or ballast into the lake, and check the lake's launching rules before visiting. California also requires a Mussel Fee Sticker on motorized boats used in fresh water.
