About this lake
Intake II is a small Southern California Edison reservoir on Bishop Creek at 8,200 feet, about 16 miles west of Bishop on State Route 168 in the Inyo National Forest. The Forest Service lists it among the Inyo lakes open to motorized boating and notes it's known for fishing.
2026 spillway work
Southern California Edison is repairing the reservoir's service spillway from July to about the end of September 2026. The water was lowered about 8 feet, work runs Monday to Saturday from sunrise to sunset, and traffic control and temporary area closures may affect anglers. The dates can change.
Camping
Intake 2 Campground has 5 walk-in sites on the west shore and 11 sites for small vehicles along the creek above the lake. Sites are first come, $34 a night, usually June through October. There are flush toilets but no drinking water.
Mussel rule
Boats must pass the Eastern Sierra mussel inspection before launching.
