About this lake
Status: the BLM campground is closed because of damage from the 2021 Tamarack Fire, and will stay closed until the area is safe and facilities are rebuilt.
Indian Creek Reservoir is a Bureau of Land Management lake at 5,600 feet in the Sierra foothills of Alpine County, reached by paved Airport Road off Highway 89 between Woodfords and Markleeville.
Boating and fishing
The BLM lists boating, motor boating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing, and the day use area has a boat ramp, four picnic sites, flush toilets and a large parking lot. The BLM pages don't say whether the day use area and ramp are open during the closure, so call BLM Carson City at (775) 885-6000 before you go.
Campground (closed)
When open, the campground has 30 sites: 19 RV and tent sites, 10 walk-to tent sites and a group site.
Weather
Summers are warm and dry with afternoon thunderstorms. The reservoir often freezes in winter.
