About this lake
Ice House Reservoir sits at 5,400 feet in the Crystal Basin Recreation Area of the Eldorado National Forest.
On the water
A paved ramp takes motorboats and water sports, with parking for about 50 cars and trailers, a boarding float and a pump-out; the state boating database lists boats from 8 to 20 feet. Check current golden mussel launch requirements before arriving.
Camping and fishing
Ice House, Northwind and Strawberry Point campgrounds serve the lake. SMUD and the state stock rainbow trout in summer.
Getting there & access
Getting there
Take Ice House Road north from Highway 50 and follow signs to the reservoir.
Launch rules
The Eldorado National Forest asks boaters to clean, drain and dry every boat and to check the reservoir's current launching requirements before arriving, because of the golden mussel.
