About this lake
Florence Lake sits at the end of Kaiser Pass Road in the Sierra National Forest, below the John Muir Wilderness.
On the water
The Forest Service boating site has a ramp for launching non-motorized boats, open June to September, with no restroom or drinking water. Boat rentals are available at the Florence Lake Store, which also sells tickets for the ferry across the lake toward the John Muir Trail. The Forest Service asks boaters to clean, drain and dry.
Camping
Jackass Meadow Campground, half a mile below the lake on the South Fork of the San Joaquin River, has 35 reservable sites with water, accessible vault toilets and bear lockers. A 0.7-mile accessible trail is nearby.
Getting there
Kaiser Pass Road is single-lane with blind curves; RVs over 25 feet aren't recommended.
Getting there & access
Getting there
From Clovis take Highway 168 to Huntington Lake, turn right at Eastwood onto Kaiser Pass Road and follow it about 21 miles. RVs over 25 feet aren't recommended.
Golden mussels
The Forest Service asks every boater to clean, drain and dry boats, trailers and gear, never drain bilge or ballast into the lake, and check the lake's launching rules before visiting. California also requires a Mussel Fee Sticker on motorized boats used in fresh water.
