Lake guide
Diamond Valley Lake
Hemet, Riverside County, CA
Overview
Diamond Valley Lake is Southern California's largest man-made reservoir, built by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California near Hemet. It holds about 800,000 acre-feet, covers more than 4,500 surface acres and is around 260 feet deep. The district opened it for fishing and boating, with the marina and launch at 2615 Angler Avenue.
Layout
The boat launch facility and Diamond Valley Marina are both at 2615 Angler Avenue. The marina offers boat rentals and dry storage. The site also has a 2.5-mile stretch of shoreline set aside for fishing, with rugged terrain, and a Lake View Trail.
What makes boating here different
The lake is a drinking-water supply, so there is no swimming or water body contact, and pets are not allowed. Boats must be at least 12 feet long. The marina and Lake View Trail are open Wednesday through Sunday, sunrise to sunset, and the marina notes it is closed Monday and Tuesday. Call (951) 926-7201 to confirm hours and fees.
Mussel quarantine
State Parks says that if water or mussels are found at Lake Perris, a boat is quarantined eight days and can't launch at Lake Perris, Silverwood Lake or Diamond Valley Lake. That makes your cleaning routine matter across all three lakes. Boat registrations are done daily at Diamond Valley Lake and Lake Skinner.
