About this lake
Status: The Forest Service currently lists the Courtright boat launch as closed. Its listed season starts in May.
Courtright Reservoir is a high PG&E lake at about 8,200 feet in the Sierra National Forest, reached from Shaver Lake by Dinkey Creek Road and McKinley Grove Road.
On the water
The Courtright boat launching site has paved access and is open for day use from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. in season. It has no drinking water. The Forest Service lists camping, boating, hiking and fishing for the Courtright/Wishon area, and asks boaters to clean, drain and dry before launching.
Camping
PG&E runs Marmot Rock Campground on the south shore: 15 walk-in sites at $25 a night, May to September, with vault toilets and bear lockers but no running water. Reserve through PG&E. The nearest store, RV park and boat rentals are at Wishon Village, about 10 miles away.
Getting there & access
Getting there
From Clovis take Highway 168 toward Shaver Lake, turn right on Dinkey Creek Road for 11.7 miles, right on McKinley Grove Road for 13.6 miles, then left 7.5 miles to Courtright.
Golden mussels
The Forest Service asks every boater to clean, drain and dry boats, trailers and gear, never drain bilge or ballast into the lake, and check the lake's launching rules before visiting. California also requires a Mussel Fee Sticker on motorized boats used in fresh water.
