About this lake
Convict Lake is a deep alpine lake at 7,600 feet in the Inyo National Forest, just south of Mammoth Lakes and north of Crowley Lake.
On the water
The boat ramp and marina are on the north shore, where Convict Lake Resort rents boats and sells tackle and supplies. Trailered boats must be inspected and carry the free Eastern Sierra mussel sticker.
Around the lake
A paved nature trail runs along the east side to the south shore picnic area, a hiking trail circles the lake, and a wilderness trail heads up Convict Creek. Convict Lake Campground has bear lockers at each site. The resort also has lodging and a restaurant.
