About this lake
Bucks Lake is a high mountain lake in the Plumas National Forest, about 17 miles southwest of Quincy on Bucks Lake Road.
On the water
The Forest Service's Sandy Point day use area has a boat launch with parking for about 60 cars and trailers, a carry-down walkway and a swimming area. Bucks Lake Marina rents boats and sells fuel, supplies and tackle.
Staying over
Lodges, cabins, groceries and restaurants operate around the lake, and Forest Service campgrounds usually run from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Winter
The lake is under snow in winter. The Oro-Quincy Highway closes at Bucks Summit, and the road from the Oroville side isn't plowed, so call ahead.
