About this lake

Bridgeport Reservoir covers more than 4,000 acres when full, with 11 miles of shoreline, in the Bridgeport Valley just north of the town of Bridgeport on Highway 182. At 6,455 feet it's low for an Eastern Sierra lake. It was built in 1924.

On the water

Mono County lists boating, sailing, waterskiing and kayaking. Bridgeport Reservoir RV Park and Marina has a small marina with slips, a launch ramp, a tackle store and boat rentals: a 10 hp skiff is $75 a day, a 60 hp Crestliner $200 and a 50 hp pontoon $265, with fuel and life jackets included. Slips are $12 a day, and the launch fee is extra. Bookings are by phone. Paradise Shores RV Park also has a launch with a washdown area. Trailered boats need the free Eastern Sierra mussel inspection and sticker.

Season and conditions

The marina is open for the 2026 season through October 31. Lake levels change through the season, so call before you tow. Algae blooms can affect fishing in some years.

Fishing

The lake is best known for brown and rainbow trout, usually 1 to 3 pounds, with some near 10 pounds each season. Boating is the best way to fish it.

Getting there & access

Getting there

From Bridgeport take Highway 182 (Sweetwater Road) north; the RV parks are 2 to 3 miles out of town.

Water level

Levels drop through the season; the marina asks you to call before towing.

Mussel inspection

Since April 2026, Mono County requires every trailered boat and jet ski to be inspected before launching. Inspections, decontamination and the Eastern Sierra mussel sticker are free at Eastern Sierra WID stations (Bridgeport and Bishop among them). Residents inspect once a year; visitors inspect on entering Mono or Inyo County, and again after launching anywhere outside the two counties. Arrive clean, drained and dry.
