About this harbor

Status: permanently closed. The City of San Leandro permanently closed the San Leandro Marina in January 2023. The harbor had become too shallow, and the city didn't have the money to dredge it.

What's happening now

The city is clearing the former marina for the Monarch Bay Shoreline Development, a planned project with homes and commercial space. Work has included demolishing buildings, removing boats and clearing debris. The developer's bankruptcy stalled the project in 2024, and the city has said it will find another developer if needed.

Launching nearby

There are no slips or public launch at the old marina. Public launches nearby include the Encinal Boat Ramp in Alameda and the MLK Shoreline Doolittle launch in Oakland.
