Corona del Mar State Beach

Newport Beach, Orange County, CA

Overview

Corona del Mar State Beach, known locally as Big Corona, is a sandy cove just south of the Newport Harbor entrance. It's part of the state park system but operated by the City of Newport Beach. The Newport Harbor jetty shields it from most swells.

Parking

The big draw is the 572-space beach lot just south of Ocean Boulevard and Jasmine Avenue, with 13 disabled spaces. It's open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily and you pay on arrival. Rates change by season and time of day, so check before you go.

On the sand

Big Corona has fire rings, volleyball, restrooms, showers and a food concession. The fire rings are available during beach hours on a first-come basis, and the City doesn't allow portable barbecues. A walking path leads down to the south end from Inspiration Point at the foot of Orchard Avenue.
