About this beach

Black's Beach is a 2-mile strip of sand at the base of 300-foot cliffs below Torrey Pines, shared by the City of San Diego and the State. Hang gliders and paragliders from the Torrey Pines Gliderport often fly overhead.

Getting there

Access is very difficult: the trails down the cliffs are unimproved and unmaintained. The safest way in is to walk from the beaches to the north or south, but high tides or surf can cut that route off.

Safety

The cliffs are unstable and slides happen without warning, so stay well away from them. Black's has one of San Diego's nine permanent lifeguard stations, and it's used for surfing.

Rules

No alcohol, glass, smoking, littering, loud noise, camping or dogs.
